(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — December has already become the deadliest month of of the COVID-19 pandemic in U.S., according to the COVID Tracking Project.
With eight days remaining in the month, states on Wednesday reported 3,379 deaths.
Additionally, states recorded 1.7 million tests and 221,000 cases. There are a record 119,463 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized. The seven-day average for hospitalizations is at a record 115k.
There are currently 78,574,009 cases and 1,727,672 deaths worldwide as of Wednesday evening, according to Johns Hopkins University.
