(WISCONSIN) — Wisconsin police continue to investigate a Saturday shooting at a casino where a former restaurant employee opened fire inside the business — killing at least two former coworkers and injuring a third.
50 people were inside the establishment, the Duck Creek Kitchen + Bar, which is near Green Bay, at the time of the shooting, Brown County Sheriff Todd Delain said Monday at a news conference.
The restaurant is located inside a Raddison Hotel, which is connected to the Oneida Casino, so several hundred individuals were nearby the scene of the shooting when it happened.
Delain said the suspect carried out the shooting with a 9mm handgun, where he ambushed several employees at the restaurant’s waiter station.
Delain has identified the slain employees as Ian Simpson, 32, and Jacob Bartel, 35. The third employee, identified as 28-year-old Daniel Mulligan, is hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
Police has since identified the gunman as 62-year-old Bruce Pofahl, who was shot and killed by police at the scene. Delain said the suspect was fired from the restaurant earlier this year and was banned from the complex.
The nature of the gunman’s firing, as well as his motives, remain unclear.
