(NEW YORK) — If you needed another reason to get the COVID-19 vaccine, enter Krispy Kreme. The franchise is offering anyone who presents a vaccination card one a1 free glazed donut.
“Let’s be sweet to our communities,” the offer declares, explaining, obviously, you have to appear in person to redeem the sweet incentive.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports a total of 156,734,555 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been distributed in the U.S. as of Monday morning. Of those, 124,481,412 doses have been administered, with 81,415,769 people receiving at least one dose and 44,141,228 people fully vaccinated, representing 24.5% and 13.3% of the total U.S. population, respectively.
The Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines each require two doses to be effective. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires a single dose to be effective.
Krispy Kreme donuts also require a single dose to be effective — in theory. In practice, additional boosters are often needed after the initial dose is consumed.
