(NEW YORK) — It should come as no surprise that for animal lovers, one of the benefits of quarantine has been spending more time with their pets. 

In a new survey by PetPlace.com, of the more than 300 respondents surveyed, 70% replied that they’ve “loved” having the extra time to spend with their furry companions as they work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly all of the respondents are pet parents to dogs and cats, with 41 percent stating that they’re dog owners, 32 percent have cats and 22 percent have both. 

“Despite the roller coaster of uncertainty during this pandemic, we were really heartened to see how many people have discovered a newfound gratitude and appreciation for their furry friends,” says Hilary Young, Director of Brand Strategy for PetPlace. 

For the pet owners who are returning to work, 24 percent of them said they are concerned that their pet may experience separation anxiety. 

Many pet owners also noted that their furry friends have helped de-escalate their anxiety during this time.
